Senior Swimming Sports

We had a great day at our Senior Swimming Sports.   From all accounts there was great rivalry between the Waka.  Well done and congratulations to all the children who got into the spirit of the day and gave 100%.  Special thanks to our spectators support.  Great for all the children to show off their swimming talents and their vocals.  The waka results for the day were:

Tokomaru 358,  Te  Arawa 399, Takitimu 420, Aotea 422, Mataatua 422, Tainui 490

Also congratulations to the Teachers team who this year won the Parent Teacher Student relay race.

 Rittsumeiken Keisho Junior High School

We hosted 12 students from Japan over 11 days.  They stayed with local families for the duration of their visit.  They had a great visit to NZ and spoke very highly of their welcome and stay at our school.  Our co-ordinator, Mrs Sheree Johnson, did a great job managing the visit.  Our thanks to our homestay families for their support.  From all accounts the students were very well behaved and fitted into their New Zealand family life.

Te Ara a Tawhaki - Library Info Tech Centre

We opened our new Library in March with an early morning blessing from local Kaumatua Mr Chris Riki accompanied by Mrs Te Ao Marama Maaka and Mrs Kahu Beazley.  Staff attended and the Board was represented.  Our children are enjoying their new surrounds.

School End of Year Awards

At Friday’s assembly children were presented with certificates for Road Wardens, Banking Monitors, 100% attendance and Class Awards for Excellence in Sport, in Citizenship and in Academic Excellence.  We congratulate all those who achieved the awards and we recognised a great group of other children who were in the reckoning for each award.  Teachers had shortlists of between 5-8 children for each award so their selection tasks were not made easy.  Children should still put their hand up in 2010 and do the best they can.
